Our World
The world as we know it is rapidly changing and not all of those changes are for the better. We are
losing the natural world at a frightening pace. If we continue to sleep, to be unconscious to these
changes, we will lose everything. Things that are not replaceable like polar bears, cedar trees,
whooping cranes and wildflowers. As we go about our busy lives, we like to pretend this cannot or will
not happen but it can and it is happening all around us. We need to slow down, become truly aware
of the “every day” beauty around us and ask ourselves if the natural world is worth saving, if it’s worth
our time. We all need to become involved in OUR world and in preserving the things worth preserving.
This isn’t the job for a few. This is the responsibility of us all. Never doubt that you alone can make a
difference and that all of us together can make a miracle.
The websites I’ve chosen to highlight here are just a few that can begin to open our awareness and
point us to some of the ways in which we can be involved. Ways in which we can begin. Every
journey begins with just one step.....
www.carbonplanet.com
Carbon Planet is an Australian company that is planting trees to set off your carbon
footprint. Although it shouldn't be your first course of action, I still think it's worth
checking out.
www.care2.com
Care2 is a great site for networking with others also devoted to the environment,
human and animal rights and other issues. Plenty of good information and tips on
going green.
www.circleoflifefoundation.org
This is the website of Julia Butterfly Hill. I was surprised to find out there were
people who didn't know who she was. If you don't, definitely check out her website.
She is an amazing woman, activist and an incredible source of inspiration.
www.defenders.org
Defenders is a wildlife protection organization and works to protect wild animals such
as wolves, bears, tigers and other wild animals as well as their habitat.
www.treehuggers.com
Treehuggers is a great site for all the newest environmental information, happenings
and inventions. They have a daily or weekly email to keep up on all the current
environmental news.
Help WSPA Put An End To Bear Baiting
Bear baiting is a cruel and violent "sport" that still continues in many countries
around the world. These bears suffer horrible existences until they are rescued by
organizations like WSPA. WSPA is an international organization that rescues both
wild and companion animals in both the U.S. and in countries across the globe. They
find solutions that work. It is essential that those of us with a "voice" speak for those
who are unable to "speak" for themselves.
Please make a donation to their worthwhile mission today: WSPA End to Bear Bating
